the hunt for Uncle Jacques A mystery tour following in the footsteps of a mysterious character from the village... Use this guide to find hidden clues to track down the identity of this person. You'll need to look all over the village! A bit of history: Who was Uncle Jacques? Before you set out on the hunt for Uncle Jacques, here's why he was so important. During the Revolution French soldiers invaded this region, the Savoie, and priests were forbidden from worshipping here as they were used to. Not all priests agreed to the new rules and went into hiding so they could continue to hold services in secret! This is what Uncle Jacques did and he used lots of funny disguises to hold baptisms and mass in secret. One day he might be dressed up as a beggar, or a butcher, or a maid, and so on...this is how he always managed to stay one step ahead of the authorities out to catch him! How to play the game: find the hidden characters to find out which disguise Uncle Jacques is using; you'll need to read the games booklet carefully! The game, which will take you about two hours, is suitable for children and adults and is nothing more than a gentle stroll. It's a great opportunity to find out a little more about the history of the Le Biot too! English and French booklet on sale in the tourist offices of the Vallée d'Aulps (Le Biot, St. Jean d'Aulps, Montriond and the Jotty Information Chalet). Cost €1,50.
